The issues of activity of the National Television Company of Ukraine, as well as its state, problems and prospects of development; Ukrainian version of “Euronews”; public council of National Television Company of Ukraine; problems of creating Social television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine as well as refinement of sate policy in the sphere of television were discussed during the meeting.
Opening the meeting, the Committee Chair Mykola Tomenko noted that one of the main directions in this sphere should be realization of potential of local TV companies and “taking them out of influence of officials”. According to him, only 2 of 12 hours of broadcasting by regional public service broadcasters are financed.
M.Tomenko believes that public councils of National TV and Radio Companies should consist of famous public figures, and not of politicians “men of weight, who would influence the program policy of these channels that, in essence, are under control of several officials”.
The acting Director-General of the National Television Company of Ukraine Oleksandr Panteleymonov reported on the activity of the TV channel for the past 3 years.
According to him, to settle financial problems of the National Television Company of Ukraine there has been prepared the optimization work plan stipulating, in particular, reduction of personnel.
Representatives of the National Television Company of Ukraine, the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, representatives from TV channels and public organizations were present at the meeting.
